Ao Dai Day- May 15

California announced today as a day to honor this traditional dress, an icon of Vietnam. It is a symbol of Vietnamese feminine beauty. While it is form-fitting it is conservative and with modernization has been a great creative expression for those that wear it as well.

Why celebrate? By celebrating helps us not only honor Vietnamese culture here in America but contributes to the U.S.'s cultural diversity. In 2017 the census bureau indicated that there are more than 1.3 million Vietnamese Americans living in the U.S. and with the highest concentration of 40% living here in California.

What a great way to represent the Vietnamese culture!
